Abstract Guidelines and Submission

Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract to TICC 2025. Before you proceed, please read the guidance below regarding types of submission, abstract guidelines and criteria, and terms and conditions.

When you are ready to submit an abstract, please click the button at the bottom of this page. Abstract submission opened at 09:00 13th January 2025 . The deadline for submission is 17:00 10th February 2025.

You must also register to attend the conference. The registration portal can be found on our Registration page. Registration will also close at 17:00 10th February 2025.

Results of abstract submission will be released in early March 2025, and will be sent to the email address of the abstract submitter – please check this is correct before submission. Your attendance at the conference will be confirmed prior to this, following close of registration.


Consideration Preference

Oral Presentation: 10 Minutes for presentation of a new medical education innovation or research project, with 5 minutes for questions, comments and feedback from the audience. Presenters can use Microsoft PowerPoint or other presentation aids. There is no slide limit, and no fixed format of the presentations.

Short Communication: 3 minutes for presentation of a new medical education innovation or research project, with 2 minutes for questions, comments and feedback from the audience. Presenters can use PowerPoint or other presentation aids. If using Microsoft PowerPoint, there is a strict limit of 3 slides. We recommend that your presentation is structured with the same headings as your submitted abstract.


Abstract Guidance

Theme: We recognise that your presentation may not align completely with one of these themes, but choosing this helps us to programme presentations appropriately.

Authors: A maximum of 10 authors can be supplied per abstract. Please provide authors’ full names and institutions. Please include authors in the order you wish them to appear in conference materials.

Presenters: A maximum of 3 presenters can be supplied per abstract. Please provide authors’ full names and institutions. Please include authors in the order you wish them to appear in conference materials.

Abstract Headings – A maximum of 300 words (excluding references) is permitted. Please structure your abstract with the following headings:

  • Introduction: Explain the background of your topic, provide context from relevant literature, and outline the problem or research question you are addressing.
  • Approach: Outline the approach you used to address your problem or question. If your abstract is a research project, this is equivalent to a ‘Methods’ section. If your abstract is a teaching innovation, this section should be used to outline your teaching intervention.
  • Evaluation: Describe the results of your research/innovation. This could be quantitative or qualitative data. We recognise that you may not have complete data at the time of abstract submission, in which case you should clearly state that data is pending in your abstract.
  • Implications: Discuss the broader impact of your research or innovation on the wider medical education community.
  • References: A maximum of 5 references, using AMA reference style.

Abstract Criteria

Abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of medical education academic staff, and inclusion in TICC 2025 decided according to the following domains:

  • Relevance to Medical Education
  • Clarity and Quality of Academic Writing
  • Innovation and Originality
  • Significance and Impact
  • Global Judgement

Terms and Conditions of Abstract Submission

  • All correspondence relating to your submission will be sent to the abstract submitter only.
  • All submissions are final on receipt. No amendments will be permitted to your abstract after it has been submitted, therefore please ensure all data, including author and presenter details, are correct at time of submission.
  • Up to 3 presenters may be indicated for each abstract
  • The presenter(s) must register to attend TICC 2025 by the close registration on 17:00 10th February 2025 via the Registration page on our website.
  • The presenter(s) should be available to present at any time during the conference, preferences for time of presentation are unlikely to be accommodated due to scheduling complexities.
  • Accepted abstracts will be posted on the TICC website and may be shared via social media accounts. By submitting your abstract, you consent for your abstract to be shared in this way.
  • TICC 2025 certificates will be provided to delegates within 30 working days of the end of conference. These will be sent to the abstract submitter only for dissemination to their co-presenter(s) where applicable. The details you put on the submission form will be used to create your certificate.
  • If you fail to attend TICC 2025, we will be unable to issue a certificate.
